DE Day 7 - Breakfasts, Burgers, and Blade Runners

I started today by getting breakfast at Bob Evans with the family friends who were hosting me. I got the classic breakfast, which included two massive chocolate chip pancakes, two eggs, and bacon. It was very good, though I'm fairly certain I got instant diabetes.

After breakfast, I finished watching American Vandal, Netflix's new true crime parody/ spot on high-school comedy, while I waited on my laundry. It's really funny, but the ending is surprisingly heartfelt.

With a full belly and clean clothes I then set out to drive to Maryland. I met up with my college friend, Scott, and we went to Duclaw Brewing. They have really good deals on Sundays for the football crowds where certain beers are $2 and almost any meal you'd want is only $7. I got a flight of beers and a Juicy Lucy, which is the slightly embarrassing to say name for their very excellent cheeseburger. For my flight, I got their red ale, a coffee stout, a robust porter, and a beer called the dirty little freak which was coconut, chocolate, caramel ale. Everything was good, but the little freak was probably the best even if taste way more like candy than beer.

After dinner we saw the new Blade Runner. It really was about as good as a sequel as could be hoped for considering the first one is a masterpiece. They did a good job keeping the philosophical noir vibe as opposed to going for a full oncrowdpleasing action movie. The fights are still brutal, but the existentialism can be even rougher at times. Ryan Gosling is really good, he's definitely surpassed his pretty boy image, and I've really come to like him in most things he does. There is a moment where Harrison Ford starts talking about cheese that is just fantastic. It's also visually stunning, so I'd definitely say if you're thinking about seeing it, go see it in a theater and don't wait for it to be on TV, you'll be missing out. I'd also say that most of the movie won't make a ton of sense unless you see the original, but you should see the original anyway even if you don't see this one because it's important.

Favorite Random Sightings: O'Shuck's Irish Pub; Hairy Hounds Pet Spaw; Murky Creek Liquor (not the most appetizing name); Prettyman Lane; Rutt Road (you can't say it out loud without sounding like Scooby Doo)

Regional Observations: Delaware has the cheapest gas I've seen so far, and also I'd say it's the state I've been to where people are most likely to just start up a good conversation with you in a bar.
